The short version

The Dominance Index is a Hidden Labs project. We use two tools to understand how the site is used. One sets no cookies and runs for every visit. The other sets cookies and only runs if you accept it.
Cloudflare Web Analytics (always on)
Cloudflare hosts the site and counts visits: which pages were viewed, the site that sent you, your country, and your type of device and browser. It sets no cookies and does not follow you across other sites. We use it to know how many people visit and which pages they read.
Google Analytics (only if you accept)
If you click Accept on the cookie banner, Google Analytics loads. It sets cookies (named _ga and _ga_ followed by an ID) so it can tell a returning visitor from a new one, and records the pages you view, how long you stay, how you arrived, your approximate location (city or region), and your device and browser. Google Analytics 4 does not store IP addresses. We use it to see which pages and posts people find useful, so we know what to make more of.
If you decline, or never answer, it does not load and nothing is sent to Google.
Google processes this data on its servers, which are outside Quebec and may be in the United States or elsewhere. We do not use it for advertising, we do not sell it, and we do not combine it with anything else. We keep Google Analytics data for 14 months at most.
Changing your mind
You can accept or decline at any time from the Cookie settings link at the foot of every page. Declining removes the Google Analytics cookies from this site. Your choice is remembered in your browser so we don't ask on every page.
Your rights
You can ask what personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or withdraw your consent. Because we have no accounts, Google Analytics data is not tied to your name, so in most cases the quickest route is to decline cookies above.
